A Comparison of Wii and PS3
May 6, 2008
When choosing between the Wii and the PS3, there are a variety of factors that should be taken into consideration. The two prime factors to consider when buying any gaming console are the quality of the hardware and the system’s online plans.
Wii
A couple of strong factors you should take into account when comparing Wii vs PS3 are the hardware and online gaming capabilities of each system. The processing power of the Wii is not one of its strongest points, however, it has one of the most innovative control mechanisms to be invented since the joystick. Nintendo keeps the hardware behind the functionality a closely guarded secret and in doing so, keeps the competition guessing for what is a truly unique controller design. It takes skill to master the controller but the bonus for expert gamers looking for a new challenge will be the price. The price is low, the Nintendon Wii is a great system and hard to pass up.
The Wii online services are not very good. While, like PS3, it is free, the Wii service does not have a lot of games. Moreover, playing with other people involves using a friend code. The online services for the PS3 far outweigh what is offered for the Wii.
The PlayStation 3
In a comparison between the Wii and the PS3, the PS3 clearly emerges the winner. It is unquestionably the most technologically advanced gaming console in today’s market. Its CELL chip allows for customized processing, which may be more difficult for game developers, but gives gamers truly excellent views on multiplatform games. The device’s potential makes it somewhat more costly, but renders it the leader in its field.
In the current market, the gaming console that provides the best online experience is the PS3. The normal PS3 versus Wii debate doesn’t apply here. Basically, the PS# has the ultimate in online play when compared to the Wii or Xbox 360. There are many different games, an online marketplace, and a massive network to play on with ganers from all around the world. Many of the PS3s games have at least some online features and without any fee!
Make an informed choice, as there is an equal number of pros and cons to take into account before making the final decision. Only you can judge which of the systems available would be more suitable for you.
