When getting a puppy from a pet store you are not going to have all the facts about where that puppy came from or the living conditions it lived in. Your local pet store generally has rules about not releasing pet breeders information so you end up with a puppy but no history on where it came from. Also, it is less likely that you will leave well informed about your new Havanese puppy versus the kind of information you could receive directly from a good Havanese breeder.
Pet store employees also do not have the extensive knowledge and training that a Havanese breeder would have. These are simply hourly employees who are trying to sell you a dog and if you are lucky, they might be able to point out a couple of things they remember hearing about the dog. This does not give you a good sense of what you are getting into. You must know everything there is to know about Havanese puppies and Havanese breeders as possible in order to make an educated decision.
A knowledgeable Havanese breeder should have not only a passion for their furry friends but also a lot of experience in breeding not just any dog, but the Havanese in particular. It is vital that you do not go with a breeder that cannot give you a lot of Havanese information.

And you must make sure that this breeder has more for their breeding then love for the puppies, but they also need to have a lot of knowledge about the breed. You also do not want stuck with vet bills that you weren’t expecting because no one informed you of any possible genetic issues that may arise with a certain breed.
Basically, do not make this decision based on emotions. Take your time and think it all over before jumping in to buy a new Havanese puppy.
