Sparkle, The Dream Diamond
December 3, 2007
The “Dream” diamond with which I am familiar is a brilliant cut squarish shaped diamond cut and sold to jewelers. This stone is cut to such perfect proportions that a very bright and sparkly diamond is the result. The stone also shows the “hearts and arrows” pattern often suggested as a sign of excellent cutting proportions. Is this the stone you have? You mentioned a cathedral setting and flush set stone. Do you mean the ring has rising sides and the stone was set low into... Read more »
Solutions for Resizing a Ring that Does Not Fit
December 3, 2007
You might be surprised to know just how many ladies come to our business with similar problems. Of course, the knuckle is the critical point in simply getting a ring on the finger in the first place, and then comes the difference in size with that and the bottom part of the finger. We see this from injury, arthritis and simple heredity. The knuckle on my left ring finger is larger than the part where the ring goes and I like wider bands…well, the size difference is not so great but the situation... Read more »
Holiday Plus Size Clothing Store Guide
December 3, 2007
Shopping, for most women, is a relaxing and fun experience; something to look forward to greatly. However, shopping during the Christmas holiday season can be far from relaxing. The people infested malls and stores might turn around the relaxing shopping spree altogether, make you feel uncomfortable and more stressed! The added pressure of needing to buy so many things in a short period of time definitely does not help and continue to add to the pressure. During the Holidays, shopping around would... Read more »
Helping to Identify Gold Hallmarks
December 3, 2007
The first mark (KLd) is usually the Makers or Manufacturers mark. Sometimes it could be the Store Mark (like SH) for Samuel Hill Jewelers… This doesn’t make any difference to the Hallmark so you can generally ignore it. The next mark was an ‘F’ which is the Date letter. The next is a Crown, which is the ‘Quality’ Mark which was introduced for 18ct and 22ct gold in 1798 and has been used ever since. The 22 indicates the gold quality being 22 carat gold. The last... Read more »
Fashion Of The 1940s And Industry
December 3, 2007
The fashion industry is a cut-throat industry. Often aspiring designers can’t just climb their way to the top, they have to claw their way there, and most never make it. However don’t be discouraged, a handful of them do make it. I think that it would be the more career savvy decision for you to move to the United States, preferably New York City. However, the choice is yours. Montreal and Toronto are both modern, great cities that I’m sure would have plenty of opportunities. However,... Read more »
Girls, Tips On What To Wear On Your First Date
December 3, 2007
First dates are so much fun. Kudos on basically landing your guy. Okay, so these two possible dates couldn’t possibly be more opposite fashion-wise! I’m hoping you’ll know in advance what you’ll be doing. I’ll give you a few different ideas. For a dressy play and dinner, I personally would go with a simple black pencil skirt. It is perfect for basically every occasion and you won’t look overdone, or too casual. Some black peep-toe heels would look great with this,... Read more »
Plus Size Fashion Designers to Admire
December 3, 2007
When we go to watch a movie at the cinema, we rarely stop and think about all that took place behind the scenes to make the movie possible; the same often happens when we are out and about shopping for clothes, we seldom think about the person who actually created the clothes we buy. Perhaps, some might not think it very useful to know the background of the people designing the clothes we wear, however I find it interesting and intriguing to get to know more and dig a little deep into the fabric.... How to Get a Shy Man to Ask You Out
December 3, 2007
As a dating coach, one of the top questions that I get is,”How to seduce a shy man.” Well the answer is easily. Shy men are usually grateful to have you approach them. They may be in absolute love or lust with you but feel like it will never happen because they can not drum up the nerve to approach you. Just like we sometimes think guys are out of our league, men sometimes feel the same way about us. They are afraid of being ridiculed and rejected. A shy guy may have this fear in abundance. By... All About Pantyhose
December 3, 2007
Pantyhose (also known as tights) are sheer close fitting coverings of the body from the waist to the feet, most frequently worn by women. Like stockings they are usually made of nylon. The one-piece pantyhose garment appeared in the 1960s and provided a convenient alternative to stockings (nylons). The term ‘pantyhose’ originated in the United States, referring to the combination of ‘panties’ (an American term for women’s underpants) with sheer nylon hosiery. In the... Read more »
A New Choice For Men’s Shaving? Not Really!
December 3, 2007
Straight razors - sometimes called cut-throat, flat or open razors - were the only choice for men wanting to tame their stubble for hundreds of years before King Gillette invented the modern ’safety’ razor. Straight razors then fell into decline, and quite a few urban myths were born about them - some true, some false. Here are a few to mull over: 1. ‘A straight razor blade will cut at a touch.’ True! But only if sliced across the skin - and any sharp knife will do that. A... Read more »
