It’s Harder to Hate a Gay If He’s Family

December 3, 2007

At this writing, 50 young “Equality Riders” from Soulforce are traveling on two buses headed for 32 Christian colleges with policies that silence or exclude lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students. Their mission is to “open a dialogue about the painful consequences of discrimination and the religion-based prejudice that sustains it.” The first stop was at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, where “sexual activity with someone of the same gender” is possible... Read more »

Driver Gets Blinded By Green Competitor

December 3, 2007

Neil was the local drag racing champion. He prided himself on being able to beat anybody on the circuit. He had not lost a race in five years. He was the true star of the track. Anybody who wanted to prove they were the best had to beat him. He had many fans and a few enemies. Some of his competitors had been suspended from the circuit for trying to use illegal tricks. One such competitor was Ray. He was a fierce competitor who would do anything to win. He especially wanted to beat Neil. Several... Read more »

Imus, Insults and Ignorance

December 3, 2007

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never harm me.” Look, let’s get things into perspective, shall we? There’s hate and then there’s hate. There’s simple ignorance which slips out of every human being at times, and then there is deliberate, deadly, strategic hate. The first was perpetrated by a person called Imus, the second was, is and shall be perpetrated by the Bush adminstration and their conscience-less arrogance. Imus made some stupid... Read more »

UK Airports To Get Terrorist Detection Cameras

December 3, 2007

In a bid to step up security measures across the UK, cameras that can automatically spot potential terrorists are to be installed at all major UK airports within the next few months. The cameras are already being used in the US and are going to be installed in check in halls to help protect passengers from terrorists. The terrorist attack at Glasgow Airport this summer highlighted how vulnerable airline passengers are as they wait to check in. It also caused massive disruptions including delays,... Read more »

Night Bus For Manchester Airport

December 3, 2007

In a bid to make it easier for passengers to get to and from Manchester Airport, a round the clock service on the 43 bus route has been introduced. The bus route in question links the airport with the city centre and is a popular way for travellers to commute to arrivals and leave from departures. The main reason why the bus route has been turned into a 24 hour operation is because of the increase in the number of passengers going through the airport’s doors every day. The service currently... Read more »

How Do I Get A Teacher Image?

December 3, 2007

Who is the teacher? What does he make, what does she produce? This is a question that I did myself when I was to make a speech, in a graduation party. I started saying: the teacher is a craftsman. He or she is a Craftsman of what? Craftsman of worlds, I would say. The teachers invent world, create ideas, paint subjectiveness, at last, produce and reproduce singular constellations. In the bulge of interpretations clippings, they have affliction suspire, as Chico Buarque would say, disintegrate great... Read more »

Supporting our Troops: We’re Behind Them No Matter What

December 3, 2007

The United States military is the strongest and most disciplined military in the world. The troops in the U.S. military have fought and died for many of the freedoms that we enjoy today. Without our troops we would not have independence at all, because they rose up against the tyrannical reign of the British government to fight for our freedom. As the United States became a super power the U.S. military has also waged many wars in defense of our nation as well as other nations that could not defend... Read more »

Average Household Income Down! Recession? Depression? Worse?

December 3, 2007

Recently, there have been reports on the radio and in the local newspapers on numbers that have come in on the average annual household income. The report states the average annual household income has fallen over a five-year period between the years 2000 and 2005. In 2000, the average annual household income was $55,714. In 2005, it is reported to have dropped to $55,238. This, of course, has to be seen as bad news for the economy. What does it mean to our economic future, and what will happen... Read more »

I Went Out Shopping For a Bargain and Came Home With Gas!

December 3, 2007

It was Saturday afternoon and time to go grocery shopping. I thought to myself, since I have to go through the drudgery of shopping, maybe I can have some fun by looking for a bargain. Who knows, maybe I’ll even find the biggest bargain in the world. First, I went looking for hamburger meat. I didn’t find any bargains there. In fact, the hamburger meat I prefer is $4.50 a pound. That’s lean hamburger meat. I’ve got to watch my cholesterol, you know. Next, I thought,... Read more »

Made in the USA - Perspectives of a Mom, Teacher and Entrepreneur

December 3, 2007

There seems to be three specific categories of people directly affected by this 2007 ‘Outrage of the Lead Locators.’ There are the moms controling most of the family’s discretionary buying power who, when faced with screaming children and end-caps galore this holiday season, will surely succumb to the wails which imply there is no caring of the country of origin (just buy it!!!). Then there are the teachers. You know them. The ones who continually use their own money to buy... Read more »
