Colors And Ideas On Your Bridesmaids Dresses

December 3, 2007

I have a few suggestions below. You may want to present these to your attendants and see which ones they like best. Any combination will work. You’ve chosen a monochromatic color scheme so any lightness or darkness of purple is acceptable. Dress your bridesmaids in lavender and your Maid/Matron of honor in plum. I did this at my wedding. Our colors were silver and light blue. I wore a white dress with silver and light blue accents. My bridesmaids were in light blue while my Maid and Matron... Read more »

The Point Of Gift Giving Is Not To Be Expensive, But From The Heart

December 3, 2007

I really don’t think that the point of a gift is to be expensive in the first place. As long as it comes from the heart, it will always be well received. Nobody knows your loved ones better than you do. There must be some hobbies or interests you know of that you could address. Try to think back and remember if they expressed a desire to have something in the past. If you could get that item, no matter what the price, it is pretty much guarantied to be appreciated. It sounds like it was a really... Read more »

Different Ways To Say ‘I Do’

December 3, 2007

Unity candles are very big in the US, although it is unclear where it originates from - evidence indicates it may well be a far eastern tradition. It’s a symbol of uniting yourself and your husband as a couple and also uniting you as families. There are many different ways of incorporating a unity candle and as it has no ‘religious’ connection it shouldn’t interfere with anything. You don’t say if your parents are going to be there as it usually involves them as well... Read more »

You Know Them Better Than Anyone Else

December 3, 2007

I have no idea what his/her idea of fun is, but just to give a few ideas, miniature golf, dancing, an amusement park, a summer sport like water skiing or karaoke. You can also do something more simple which is making up a game for them. I find that that can be pretty thoughtful, very cheap, and makes a them feel special. The theme could be something like true love, and the two of you try to compete till one will win his/her heart. And you can make little cards saying something funny like opps you... Read more »

How To Word Your Wedding Invitation

December 3, 2007

In cases when the bride and groom are issuing the invitation to a wedding, the names of both sets of parents are simply not included on the invitation. The reason that they are there in traditional invitations is twofold: for Christian weddings, the bride’s parents are traditionally the hosts of the wedding, a custom which comes from the old tradition of giving their daughter into the care of her husband. In the Jewish tradition, both the parents of the bride and the parents of the groom are... Read more »

How Clothes Look: Proper Under Garments Can Make All The Difference

December 3, 2007

The proper under garments can make all the difference in how your clothes look on you. In terms of panties, nothing is more unflattering than seeing panty lines under your slacks!! That’s especially true in the summer when you can get a double whammy…actually seeing through light white pants as well as having the textural bulge that some underpants give!! I am a huge fan of thongs! For some people they take some getting used to and some are more comfortable than others. You’ll... Read more »

Thank You Cards

December 3, 2007

In all honesty I don’t think I have ever come across engagement gift thank-you here in the sunny UK. You can get bog standard thank you letters / cards thanking people for gifts but they usually have a wedding theme and / or picture. Perhaps you could look into having some made and personalized by a stationers. If the budget looks thin then how about getting some card, glue, metallic shapes and glitter / paper flowers and metallic ink pens and have a bash at making some yourself? I have had... Read more »

Gifts That You Would Present To Your Loved One

December 3, 2007

Well, let’s see. What if you gave them a gift for a little get-away, such as a long weekend at a cottage somewhere or a short trip? In your situation it would of course have to include the kids. But it could still be something they’d enjoy. Just something different to do that would break the routine. You can also make a special occasion at home by serving him/her a candle light dinner after the kids are in bed. And I suppose you could give him/her something of an upgrade for the technology... Read more »

Ideas On Creating Your Own Wedding Invitation Cards

December 3, 2007

You’ve had a great idea already, in having a calligrapher hand-write the invitations. Not only is this a beautiful and elegant way to have a small quantity of invitations produced, it’s relatively cost-effective. You might want to check your local area for calligraphers (the phone book, or wedding informational websites). Call them up, ask for pricing for 25 hand-written invitations, and ask to see samples. Most calligraphers are happy to send you samples of their work, so that you can... Read more »

Wedding Gowns, Color And Style Depends On Religion And Culture

December 3, 2007

A wedding dress or wedding gown is clothing worn by a bride during a wedding ceremony. Color, style and ceremonial importance of the gown depends on the religion and culture of the participants. In modern tradition, the color of western-culture wedding dresses is white. Used in this sense, ‘white’ or ‘wedding white’ includes creamy shades such as eggshell, ecru and ivory. The popularity of this color can be traced back to 1840 and the marriage of Queen Victoria to Albert of... Read more »
