How To Slim Down Your Guest List
December 3, 2007
Knowing whom to invite to your wedding can be a tricky business…and it comes down to a combination of several factors: your budget, your locations, what’s typical in your social/cultural circle, and your relationships with your family and your fiance’s family. Factor one, budget, is the one which for practical reasons must be addressed. If you have no set budget and the sky is the limit, then you may feel free to invite whoever will make you, your fiance, and your families happy.... Read more »
Wedding Dress Sizes And Ideas
December 3, 2007
Firstly, there are different weights of satin. Go for something nice and lightweight. The simpler cuts do tend to be made from lighter fabrics to add to the simplicity, they also hang better without looking too stiff. Mermaid (or fishtail) style would be perfect. Go for a 1 piece gown as a 2 piece or separates can cut a figure in half. Also, look at the fitting of the skirt. For a petite frame, go for a skirt that flares out from mid thigh at the lowest. This will make you look taller and balance... Read more »
How To Word Your Invitation For The Wedding Dinnner Buffet
December 3, 2007
While indicating menu choices on the response card is not proper according to the highest standards of etiquette, it is a practice that has become widely accepted. The best way to handle the three options is to include a space before each option on the response card. As with anything, less is more…the simpler you can make things for your guests, the more likely you are to get accurate responses. You may even consider a short line after “are pleased to accept”. I am suggesting the... Read more »
More Fashion Ideas For Your Wedding
December 3, 2007
My first bit of advice is to hire a good coordinator to assist you as you have only 4-5 months to plan. The good part of planning in a short period of time is you need to make decisions NOW! I think a wedding in December would be wonderful. Several reasons being…places are already decorated for the holidays so you don’t have a lot of decorating expense. The colors you’ll want to use will be the rich, jewel tones, such as deep purple, blues, reds, and greens, any of the warm tones.... Read more »
More Colors For Bridesmaids Dresses
December 3, 2007
Sounds lovely! As its October, go for some rich gold’s and warm ivories to break up the darkness. Silver would go just as well but I think gold is more suited to the season. Don’t go for too much color as not only can it get difficult to tone, it’ll look too busy. I always work on the ‘4′ principle. 2 colors that tone 1 neutral shade (white, ivory, diamond white, cream etc) 1 glitzy color (gold or silver) Your 2 colors are for the groom and Bridesmaids. The neutral shades... Read more »
Tuxedo And Wedding Dress Ideas
December 3, 2007
A traditional black tuxedo would be perfectly appropriate. I would recommend a single breasted jacket at the suit length (no coattails). Because it is an afternoon wedding, I would recommend a vest and tie rather than a bowtie and cummerbund or ascot. As for colors, you may want to put the guys all in claret-colored vests (and potentially having the groom’s with a pattern and the groomsmen without) or you may want to have the groom’s vest in ivory and the groomsmen in claret. Go to your... Read more »
Sending Invitations For Rehearsal Dinner
December 3, 2007
If people other than the wedding party and immediate family are to attend the rehearsal dinner, then invitations should be sent. However, this should be the responsibility of the groom’s family if they are hosting the rehearsal dinner. Discuss if other family and friends are to be invited then provide a list to the groom’s family so they can send the invitations. (Do check with your daughter and her fiance first, before making a list, to determine just how many and who is to be invited... Read more »

The Hidden Cost Of The Wedding Band
December 3, 2007
The biggest tradition within America for a wedding is the wedding bands. They are the first thing that other women ask to see and it often makes anyone happy to just see it. It tends to be the case that most men are much less thrilled as regards to rings since they are frequently not impressed with a rock that cost too much, in their view. A wedding band, to a woman, represents the beginning of a new family, a new chapter in life, and possibly children on the horizon. Most men do not understand,... Read more »
