Comparing Stair Stepping Machines To Other Machines
October 7, 2008
There are 4 major exercise machines that people most commonly use. Stair steppers, elliptical machines, exercise bikes, and treadmills. They are common in fitness and sports good stores, and gyms across the country stock up with those cardio machines. They are all fantastic, but the stair stepper is probably the most misunderstood.
A stair stepper mimics climbing. For example, how exhausted would you be after climbing 100 flights of stairs? How exhausted would you be walking a half mile or a mile? How exhausted would you be after doing something low impact? A stair stepper will exhaust your muscles, even if you are a very fit person. Your muscles will be forced to work in the right way to get yourself going, and you will probably burn significantly more calories.
Treadmills are machines that work by making you walk on a belt, in one direction. You can customize the workout to go at certain speeds, or simulate uphill motions. However, a stair stepper takes this a bit farther. The goal of a stair stepper is to not let your feet sink to the ground. You have to constantly move like you are running up a flight of stairs. This makes the stair stepping machine superior to others, because much more is involved with its usage.
Elliptical machines are another type of equipment that allows you to move without impacting any of your joints or harming your muscles. It is an easy machine to use, but not as successful at burning calories as a stair stepper may be. If you are stuck physically, then an elliptical may not be able to rescue you from that. Stair steppers will jump start your body instantly, because of the challenge that it demonstrates.
If you were to compare the speed it takes to see results within the three main exercise equipment machines, you would learn that stair stepping exercises are probably more efficient in burning calories as well as getting your heart rate up. Heart rate is important for calorie burning and body reshaping.
Stair steppers are fun, and offer a different machine for your daily usage. They are anything but boring, and with some great music you can probably pound up a hundred flights of stairs easily and burn hundreds of calories in the process of doing so. Stair stepper machines are great for your heart and cardio system as well.
