You love cooking and so far you have been doing this just for fun, for your family and friends. Have it ever occurred to you that the art of cooking can be transformed into a nice career? Yes, there are many places schools and colleges that you can attend to get a certificate and than jump into a career of your choice.

You now probably wonder what else of being a chef in a restaurant is available if you decided to transform you passion for cooking into a business. Here is just a short list of all available options that you will have if you decide to go into culinary arts.

Become a chef.
To become a chef is obviously the most well known job in the culinary arts world. Even if you thing that to be a chef is a simple job it is not. There are many types of chefs specializing into different culinary arts. You can become an expert in a field that you love most, for example chocolate.

Become a chef executive.
This is a more complicated position that being a chef only. You will be responsible for the overall process of food preparation in the restaurant where you work. As a chef executive you will have to take care of the menu, employees, food supply and even marketing.

A career in catering.
While many underestimate the catering industry and believe it has nothing to do with the culinary arts, in fact it is an industry closely connected to culinary arts and in fact a bit more difficult to handle than a standard restaurant industry. If you want to go into catering you will need to learn a lot about this kind of cooking, decide what kind of catering services you will offer, be very creative and organized. Surely it is a career for the open minded who like to meet new people and make contacts.

Other culinary arts careers.
There are other culinary arts careers available. Some of them don’t even involve cooking. You can become food sales representative for a food company or work in the development of new foods in an institute. You can invest in further education and become a dietitian. Some chefs move into the management of restaurants or resort and this way they are still connected with culinary arts but more involved into the bigger picture of managing the business. Another exiting option is to go for a career in the media. If you have been a chef you can easily write reviews of restaurants for the local media.
