Digging for Gold in the World of Warcraft
October 9, 2008
Gold is a necessity in the game because you need it to purchase items like armor and weapons, and it’s definitely handy for winged mounts and skills in the latter part of the game. But gold is not easy to come by so you’re going to have to work for it, like it or not.
This guide includes grinding, professions, flipping, and/or purchasing gold from sellers. However, this guide will be focusing on the first three. These skills can easily be learned, and once you have background knowledge on them, it would definitely be easier to make more money in a shorter amount of time. What’s important is knowing where and how to make it. Let me show you how to start
Grinding for Gold
Grinding for gold is the fastest and the easiest way to get a lot of gold. It may be tedious, but certain locations and techniques can let you earn up to 50 gold pieces an hour, so it is well worth it. As a bonus, grinding for gold will also increase your experience points so it really does pay off in the long run.
Also, there are a few places where you might want to want to look into when you are serious about grinding. Most chances for high amounts of gold earned per hour would usually be in the higher levels. On the other hand, you could earn a profit through grinding mobs in any place and flipping the items they drop. We’ll delve deeper into that later in this guide.
After reaching level 50, chances for quality grinding increase dramatically. Spend a lot of time at Winterspring because it is full of mobs that will earn you 50 gold pieces an hour. Best place to start is at the Winterfall Village.
There are a lot of furbolgs here, and they are relatively easy to kill while having a high drop rate. As a bonus, you can earn your Timbermaw here.
Another good opportunity for grinding in this region is engaging the Yetis in Everlook Forest. They deal minimal damage and are easy enough to overcome on your own. Look for the Frostsabers because they are very easy targets. As your level of experience increases and by the time you reach Level 80, you’ll be in the Eastern Plaguelands where finding mobs for grinding is also easy.
Another easy target is the Mossflayer Zombie which can easily earn you about 50 gold pieces within an hour. You just need to have patience, and the right techniques to go with it.
Professions that Earn Gold
This method of getting more gold may take a little longer than grinding, but it is a whole lot more interesting. Eventhough all professions earn you gold, the most profitable ones are skinning, leatherworking, and blacksmithing. Secondary professions like fishing can also earn you gold, but you’ll need the primary skill of cooking before you can make real money off it.
Another good profession is Alchemy. However, you will need a lot of time in order to collect all the needed items or rather purchase them. Skinning or Blacksmithing is what I would recommend you to start with. Both skills go really well with flipping, which will be discussed next.
You need to spend a lot of time in increasing your skills to effectively earn gold with your profession. This will prevent you from questing a lot, so balance everything out. Getting a skill level of at least 300 is worth yor time, but you will need a lot of patience. Once you do achieve this, your items will be worth more gold.
