February 29, 2008

Weddings take a lot of planning ahead and wedding stationery is on top of the list of things to do well in advance. Give your guests plenty of notice of your wedding day, they need to keep that day clear.

The wedding stationery establishes and portrays the style and tone of your wedding. Your guests will look at your wedding invitation and realise the theme and style you have set. If you want to do things properly and use wedding etiquette, then starting with your stationery can only be a good thing.

Custom Stationery

It’s only natural that you want your wedding to be unique. By using custom stationery you can make it very unique to you. Custom stationery is quite flexible too as you can choose the type-face, the color and size of the text and use your own words.

No matter what theme you have set for your wedding, you will surely be able to customize your stationery to compliment the tone. Wedding invitations and accessories can be bought in various styles such as classic, contemporary, floral, embossed, layered and religious.

Selecting A Wedding Theme

Blending in your wedding stationery with your overall theme is very important. As an example, you might want to choose floral stationery accessories if you are holding a garden wedding.

There are many accessory items available to help you tie your stationery in with the theme of your wedding. For example, ribbons, hearts, rings, white doves etc.. The same applies to the color of your invitations. This is normally decided upon by the color of your bridesmaids dresses.

Stationery Items

You would be surprised at how many wedding stationery items there are. While your wedding invitation is the most prominent item of stationery, you can find complimentary stationery accessories to match your wedding invitations:-

Plan-Ahead

Your wedding invitation is the first official message about your wedding and your guests need to know about their invite in plenty of time. Here is a checklist to help you plan ahead and be organized:-

1. Double-check that the wording in your invitation is correct. Ask a friend or family member to also look through the invitation for you;

2. Once your venue, date and time of your wedding has been confirmed, you can then order your invitations. Expert wedding planners say to order these about three to six months before the day

3. A guide to help you count the number of invitations to order, count one invitation per couple, family and single guest.

4. Add an extra 25 invitations onto your final invitation order. Why? Because you will want to keep some for keep-sakes and you will need to keep a spare supply for any last minute guests. I would suggest ordering extra envelopes too, you never know if you are going to make a spelling mistake on addresses.

5. Most established wedding planners agree that you should plan to mail your invitations six weeks before the wedding. This gives the guests plenty of time to respond;

6. In order to determine the postage for your invitations, take one complete invitation to the PO to get it weighed and priced accordingly.

To Summarize

Wedding stationery is very important. It let’s your guests know the theme you have set for your wedding - the overall image you want to portray. Also, don′t forget to plan ahead!
