Getting Creative With Embroidered Patches
June 8, 2008
The prestige, honor, and ability to boast about an association with a certain club or organization comes via the embroidered patch. many organizations offer embroidered patches after conducting a certain service, honoring the community, or otherwise achieving something special. But getting creative and using these patches may seem difficult as they start to pile up.
Many embroidered patches come from being a part of a club- such as martial arts or even a girl scout club. While many kids and teenagers don’t think twice before throwing their old embroidered patches away after they get older, parents should hold on to them for different occasions. A good idea, for instance, would be to include the patches in scrapbooks to remember one’s children through valuable reminders. This can prove to be just as beneficial for parents as it is for the children when they grow up to be adults.
Embroidered patches also make great decorations to quilts and pillows. Since embroidered patches can be found at garage sales and at stores, finding a large quantity of them is never a problem. Attaching sports patches, comic book character patches, and other type patches to a blanket for a small boy makes a great present at Christmas time. For girls, finding flowers or other girly embroidery items should be of equal ease to find.
One of the more simple and cost effective projects is to simply sew an embroidered patch onto a car seat cover. This is a very easy way to express one’s self without having to go through too much trouble or expense. In many cases this can be a humorous addition- ad the embroidered patch may be something such as a Superman logo. This is great for younger crowds who like to humor their passengers.
It has also been increasingly popular for embroidered patches to go straight onto gym bags and backpacks, as compared to actually using them to decorate apparel. Nothing says tough like adding a martial arts embroidered patch to a gym bag. Classmates will be equally as impressed of youngsters who may have their favorite cartoon character or superhero attached to their binder or backpack.
If nothing else, embroidered patches are just as chauvinistic as trophies- and they can keep their place on a trophy wall or display. After all, obtaining a special Boy Scout badge or recognition for public duty is something to be boasted over- and there’s no reason embroidered patches shouldn’t find their way next to trophies that may be on display.
Final Thoughts
The industry of embroidered patches is so successful because people like to know their achievements in life. Sewing these patches of honor to gym bags, backpacks, quilts, pillows, or even showcasing them in a trophy room are all great ways of making use of embroidered patches. Finding the perfect patch usually means browsing the Internet- but search local garage sales is also always a good idea.
