Some companies hire home-based workers to answer incoming calls from customers wanting to place orders or who have questions. Other opportunities for customer service reps working from home might involve responding to customer questions by e-mail. If this type of work interests you, you may be able to create a job for yourself by contacting small business owners in your community to see if they would like someone to call clients to remind them of appointments.

Party and Event Planning

If you are creative and have a flair for organization, then you may want to consider launching your own party and event planning business. You could choose to focus your efforts on a specific niche market, such as kids’ parties, corporate events, or weddings, or try to attract a more general clientele.

To get started in this area, start by offering to plan parties for friends and family members. This is a great way to get referrals to other potential clients. Have a supply of business cards printed, and hand them out freely. Flyers are another way to advertise your party or event planning business.
