Have You Tried Flavored Cigars?

March 27, 2008

Nowadays, people seem to like to have everything flavored, from their water to their vodka. Power water and so forth may not be much to cheer about, but one could argue that flavored vodka is a reason to shout. In the cigar world, flavored cigars are not anything all that new.

Almost since its discovery, people throughout the ages have tried to add a little kick to their tobacco leaf by adding additional ingredients to create a unique flavor profile. Purists might sneer at anything thats not 100% tobacco. However, for those who are more adventurous flavored cigars are a way to experience something new and different.

Cigars and Kahlua

No doubt most adults are at least familiar with the coffee liqueur Kahlua, but were you aware that in 1995, Kahlua-flavored cigars were born? Drew Estates invented the Kahlua cigar, and they eventually added products such as White Russian cigars and even martini-flavored cigars as well. If you are not all that keen on mixing your favorite alcoholic beverage, there are much more exotic flavored cigars out there for you. If you are looking for an Oriental flavor, consider the Cojimar Exotic cigars. They actually have chai-flavored cigars, with mandarin honey mixed in!

They even have other imaginative creations such as their white sage with rose honey cigars or orange spice with vanilla cream. Now, if only someone would up with a donut-flavored cigar; Homer Simpson would no doubt be in heaven.

Fictional characters aside, keep in mind that flavored cigars are generally at the lower end of the cigar market. Most of them are likely to be under five dollars each, so they certainly wont bust the bank. Another brand that you might want to try is Acid, created by Drew Estates founder Johnathan Drew. These cigars incorporate essential oils from herbs and other botanicals, just in case you would like something that reminds you a little less of food and drink when you light up your stogie.

A Taste of the Tropics

If you love cigars and want something with a tropical flair, try Royal Hawaiian cigars. They have three flavors, but the vanilla-coconut or Kona coffee may be your best bet, and as with other flavored cigars, they are low-priced. Dont be afraid to try something new once in a while, and give these cigars a shot. You might just be pleasantly surprised if you do. It could turn out to be your favorite type of cigar.
