August 2, 2008

Taking and improving photographs have never been easier thanks to the vast leap in digital technology. We don’t have to wait anymore to have our films processed to see our pictures, we can see it in seconds through our digital camera’s screen. However, it doesn’t mean that our photos are mistake-free now than decades ago. Improving photographs is still a preoccupation by many. And now, whether it’s their decades-old paper photos or modern digital pictures, retouching can be done easily by anyone who desires better photos.

Adobe Photoshop is one of the best digital imaging software programs used in improving photographs on the market. This program is widely used by graphic artists, photographers and artists. But you don’t have to go pro to use this program yourself; you just have to invest some time into mastering all of the potential Photoshop holds. With desire and a good tutorial, you can learn the basics to enhance your photos.

Here are a few problems we almost always see in pictures:

Blemishes and wrinkles. Who doesn’t have a little vanity in themselves? Every one wants to look good and young in photos. Unfortunately, point and shoot cameras often magnify the imperfections in our faces. But thanks to Photoshop improving photographs by removing blemishes, uneven skin tones and wrinkles can be done easily and quickly. Your family and friends will be glad you made them look 10 years younger.

Closed or Half-Closed Eyes - The camera flash can prove to be a problem for some people. The camera always seems to catch their eyes closed. In the past this would be the ruin of a photograph. Today however, that is not the case. Photoshop can correct the closed or half closed eye with ease. A good tutorial will walk you step by step through the process to a picture with everyone’s eyes shining in the final image.

Unwanted people or objects. A perfect photograph ruined by some guy who happened to appear out of nowhere just when you clicked the camera. Great! Don’t despair though, you can have him removed and be gone just like he never even appeared in the first place. Improving photographs with Photoshop by using a few tools can be done quickly and easily with the right tutorial.

Exposure Problems - Under exposure and your photo appears dark. Over exposure and you lose detail in the photo. Corrections of this type are a bit more complicated to undertake especially if the exposures are extreme, but they are not impossible. With a good tutorial you can bring out the details of your photo and greatly improve its quality.

Photographs capture our life’s greatest moments from birth to death. It is what people years from now will see in order to get to know us and see a glimpse of our life without ever meeting us. Improving photographs now will ensure not only our enjoyment at looking at them but it is also for future generations to appreciate.
