Improving Pug Nutrition
August 7, 2008
Feeding your dog with homemade Pug dog food recipes is the best thing you can do for your pet. It may seem a strange idea with the wide availability of commercial dog foods that claim to be healthy. This is misleading and if you are serious about Pug nutrition and Pug care then you should seriously reconsider buying pet food and instead make your own. The disadvantage of the extra effort that goes into making your own dog food is offset by the benefits.
However, you may not be aware that commercial dog food is the opposite of Pug nutrition and Pug care. Your dog will be a much happier pet if you find some Pug dog food recipes and make your own dog food. Making your own dog food is the best way to go about Pug nutrition. There is no better way to ensure your dog’s health and happiness than to feed your dog natural foods instead of processed commercialized dog chow.
Making dog food at home is easy once you realize that many of the foods that are good for your dog are foods that you eat and that your family eat. Pug nutrition is no different from the nutrition required by children and adults. Basically you wouldn’t feed your family a diet of fast food and junk food all the time, so why would you do that to your dog? Pug care improves and becomes easier when your dog is eating natural foods with no additives.
Ground meats such as turkey and chicken are a good way to start your dog on a natural food diet. Liver, kidney, heart and other organ meats are good for your dog but are rich. When first starting your dog on a natural diet add very little of these meats and only add this to your Pug’s diet once or twice a week. To avoid the hassle of making a batch of dog food everyday make a large batch at the start of the week and freeze it into daily portions to feed to your pooch.
Natural food does not mean that anything you would eat is okay for your dog. There are certain foods that are not good for your dog and in some cases can be lethal when taken in large amounts.
So read a few articles and books on natural foods that are good and bad for your dog. You should also check with your vet and talk about your plan to feed your dog natural food. Your vet will be able to advise you on the best foods and maybe give you some Pug dog food recipes.
This makes a lot of meals, so you can keep some in the fridge to last three days while the rest can be frozen until you want to use it. The potato, carrot and celery make up the vegetable and starch requirements. You can substitute the potato with some cooked brown rice to introduce some variety.
Let the water come back to a boil and then mix everything up so that is well combined. Now reduce the heat to a low flame and wait till the water has been absorbed. You now have a delicious meal that can be divided into several servings and frozen till you need it.
