May 25, 2008
If you are looking to unleash the power of unlimited energy in your life, have you thought about investigating feng shui? This ancient art and science promises to bring you good health, good luck, prosperity, and boundless vitality and energy.
Which makes people wonder just how much of what they hear about feng shui could possibly be true. How can the art of arranging furniture and de-cluttering your home bring you luck and wealth? Persons do well to think about these things, because there are of course many out there who want to sell you so-called feng shui items, many of which have nothing to do with real feng shui.
Lets discuss Jade as an example. It is commonly used in Asian homes, so does it have those powers? How can feng shui and Jade change your life? Lets review how and why Feng shui and Jade came to be associated. And does it really work?
The History of Jade in Feng Shui
Theres no mistaking the fact that jade is a popular metal element in Asian cultures, particularly in China. In ancient times, jade was abundant, and because of its softness it could easily be shaped into various forms, unlike diamonds and other stones which had to be worked tirelessly in order to be cut and polished.
Jade and feng shui were not always intertwined and you will find no mention of jade in ancient texts dealing with the practice of feng shui. Feng shui in fact does not ascribe special properties to jade. Nonetheless, there is no mistaking the degree to which this gem is prized in Chinese culture.
According to Chinese history, jade has been as valuable as gold and diamonds for the west. The art and culture describe jade as an important metal. It came to be used variedly from fine objects and cult figures to grave furnishings for members of the imperial family.
Jade and Feng Shui Come to the West
As Feng shui became popular in the western cultures, it cam to be highly misquoted. Scores of self proclaimed feng shui experts found good money by adulterating the teachings. The healing power of Jade and feng shui got them easy money from unsuspecting people. Jade was an important element in the Chinese culture, and feng shui was originated from china as well. For these unscrupulous feng shui experts, it was easy to make these two seem intertwined in history.
However, the real teachings of feng shui dont include anything special regarding jade. It is not considered lucky and doesnt have special healing powers. If someone were to introduce a metal element into a room, or wanted to add artwork for aesthetic purposes, then using jade in feng shui applications may work that way, but in reality, that is where this stones use stops.
