Using an organic natural baby soap on your child is not only safe for them but also for the environment as well. Such products contain no kinds of artificial ingredients, which are likely to cause irritation to their sensitive skin.

When it comes to selecting, the right kinds of natural organic baby soaps to use there are many different ones to choose from. But you will find with them all that they are able to meet your child’s own unique requirements perfectly. However, these products are not only ideal for babies and young children they can be used by other members of your family as well.

The problem with actually purchasing commercially made organic soaps is that they are more expensive than other ones that are not. So if you would like to use only natural products on your child’s skin and save yourself money as well you could always have a go at making your own soap instead. All you will need is a few pieces of equipment including a couple of saucepans, some gloves and goggles as well as the natural ingredients. Below we take you through the steps of making your own natural organic baby soap.

Step 1 - First, you will need to measure out all the ingredients in order to make your soap. For this particular soap recipe, you will need 15oz of olive oil, 5oz of palm oil and 5oz of coconut oil all of which should have been organically grown. As well as the oils, you will need 8oz of distilled water and 3.5 oz of lye.

Step 2 - Next, you need to prepare the lye you do this by adding it to the water and once it comes into contact with a chemical reaction occurs. As the lye comes into contact with the water it actually makes it heat up and it is best if you carry out this step outside because the mixture also lets off fumes. Once the lye has been thoroughly mixed with the water, you need to let it stand in order for it to cool down. It is best to let it reach room temperature before you start the next step of the soap making process.

Step 3 - When the lye has reached room temperature, you now need to get all the oils in a saucepan and heat these up before adding to the lye mixture. It is a good idea to have a thermometer close at hand so that you know when the oils have reached the correct temperature (130 to 140 degrees centigrade).

Step 4 - Once the oils have reached the correct temperature, the pan needs to be removed from the heat and placed on a surface so that you can then begin to add the prepared lye mixture. Initially when mixing the oils and lye together it is best to use a wooden spoon, but once all have been combined then you use a stick blender instead. Using a stick blender will actually get the mixture to the right consistency for pouring into moulds quicker. If you choose to stir the mixture by hand, it can take as long as an hour before you see the mixture thicken and become opaque.

Step 5 - Once the mixture has turned thick and opaque it can be turned out into a soap mould and should be left to stand for around 24 hours in order to allow it to set correctly. Once ready then the organic natural baby soap that you have prepared can be cut into blocks and used.
