The Great Pyramid and Freemasonry

June 25, 2008

As the eighteenth century drew to a close, the imminent explosion of Egyptological studies was gathering momentum. One last, curious episode in this story should be noted before moving on, however, and that is the rise of Freemasonry as a political and cultural force.

The precise origen of Freemasonry and its entrance and import into the world, although highly shrouded by cranks and obsessives, was influential and played an extremely significant role in affecting not only the political world, but also the scientific, and caused remarkable changes in the cultural world as well.

Most of the ruling elite of Europe were all Masons or at least influenced by Freemasonry. The Masons in general were all initiated into the ancient mysteries of Egypt and laid their claims to the sacred rituals handed down from an unbroken Egyptian priesthood, as well as their documentation from existent Egyptian texts.

The former Egyptian temples were re-established as Masonic lodges and decorated with Egyptian symbols, including the hieroglyphs; Also included were the other phenomena such as the pyramid and the “all seeing eye” of Horus on the reverse of the Great Seal of the United States and dollar bill.

Even Napoleon was involved in certain Masonic affairs even though it remains uncertain whether he himself was a Mason. Yet, it is a matter of conspiratorial record that some of his imperial emblems were Masonic-Egyptian and that Freemasonry flourished under his rule.

Napoleon determined that the time was ripe to launch the theory of Egyptophila on an unprecedented scale. He made his plans and set sail from the south of France to invade the ancient land of Egypt. This date became one of the most important in the history of the Great Pyramid.
