July 28, 2008

This easy to follow wedding planning checklist will help plan your perfect wedding day and will be helpful for all details of your wedding, from the wedding invitations and the bridesmaid dresses to the groomsmen attire (tuxedos). Keep calm, and keep your wedding planning checklist handy.

So let’s get started. These are some of the things that every bride and groom should be doing:

One Year to Wedding: Discuss a budget and be sure to add 5-7%. Prioritize what you want and what you can’t live without. Put it in writing. Talk to your groom and both parents and discuss each financial contributions. Talk about the size of the wedding party. Think about the location, colors and how many wedding guests to invite. Think about hiring a wedding planner or wedding consultant to help out. This is especially useful if you have only a few months before your wedding day. Choose your date and make a list of wedding reception halls to contact.

Nine-Ten Months: It’s time to pick out your wedding dress. Choose the photographer, band or dj, florist and whether you’d like it catered or buffet style. Contact your clergy or Rabbi or Justice of the Peace who will officiate at your wedding ceremony.

Six-Eight Months: Go shopping for your bridesmaid dresses and mother of the bride dress. Choose your music for the wedding reception. Make reservations for your honeymoon and get your travel documents needed such as passport or visas. Send out save the date announcements.

Four-Five Months: Pick up your wedding invitations. Choose if you will rent tuxedos for the groom and ushers. Shop for your wedding rings. Go to bakery and decide on your wedding cake.

Three Months: Enlist the help of your friends and family with planning the rehearsal dinner arrangements. Make sure wedding invitations are accurate in every detail.

Two Months out: Mail invitations. Write vows. Buy gifts for wedding party. Schedule a makeover and hairstyle for your wedding day.

One Month Out: Call up all vendors to finalize contracts. Obtain your marriage license. Determine seating charts for wedding reception.

Two-Three Days prior: Treat yourself to a full day at the spa. Pack for your honeymoon.

One day: Go to lunch with close friend or family and pat yourself on the back for staying organized.
